The Benefits of Walking With Your Children
This month, awareness is being raised for walking to school and we at Children’s Flight Chaperone support it.
I remember my early days as a parent walking to school, come rain or shine, with a newborn nestled against my chest, a toddler in the pushchair and the eldest hitching a ride.
As my children got older, we continued mainly to walk to and from school. The quality time spent together along this route was second to none. Spirits were always high with laughter, singing and conversations about their day, and often we would enjoy the company of other families too. The children benefitted from steady exercise, off-trail exploring and socialising.
Why not give it a go this October? It could add more fun to your school run. Moreover, you could discover hidden gems by taking different off-road paths and save money, and time, avoiding the rush-hour traffic, helping to lower your carbon footprint. You never know, October walking could roll into November and onwards.
