Collins definition of a Chaperone

A children’s chaperone keeps young people assigned to them safe for the duration of an activity, journey or set period of time. A chaperone in sole charge of a child in the absence of the their parent, is known to be in loco parentis: their duty is to safeguard the child, keeping them in sight at all times. All must have an enhanced DBS in place prior to working with children and should have credible references available for the appropriate authority or agency to verify.

A professional children’s chaperone holds the required licence to chaperone children within certain industries, e.g., entertainment. Furthermore, it is their duty to verify whether companies or individuals have a valid licence and DBS to be working with the children in their charge. It is common for professional children’s chaperones to have completed a recognised child-safeguarding course.

At Children’s Flight Chaperone we take great strides to deliver the highest standards of professionalism, safety and care: each chaperone brings a range of experience to the team; is fully trained in child-safeguarding and, as an additional measure, is certified in paediatric and emergency first-aid. This ensures every child in our trust receives the full attention they deserve, allowing them to feel secure and happy along their travels.
